  • 24 oz cream cheese
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1.25 cups chopped German chocolate
  • 2.5 cups Oreo crumbs
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1.25 cups chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz German chocolate
  • 3 tbsp natural unsweetened cocoa powder

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper and greasing.
  2. Combine Oreo crumbs and melted butter to form the crust; press into the bottom of the pan and bake for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition. Mix in sour cream and melted German chocolate.
  5. Pour filling over crust. Bake at 300°F for 1 hour 15 minutes or until set.
  6. Let cheesecake cool in pan for 1 hour, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Prepare coconut pecan topping by combining shredded coconut, toasted pecans, and some of the melted German chocolate. Spread over cooled cheesecake.
  8. Optional: Drizzle with chocolate ganache before serving.
