  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared cake pan and bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Decorate the cake with daffodil-shaped fondant or icing for an authentic look.
