Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 box (16.25 ounces) white cake mix
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 0.333 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
For the Frosting
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.25 cup canned evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling for topping

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13 baking pan and line with parchment paper; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine the cake mix, 1 can cherry pie filling, eggs, oil, and vanilla; mix until thoroughly combined.
  3. Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Allow the cake to completely cool before frosting.
  4. Combine chocolate chips, evaporated milk, butter, and vanilla in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds. Remove from microwave and whisk until mixture is smooth.
  5. Add powdered sugar and continue whisking until smooth.
  6. Spread the frosting over the entire cake. Top the cake with the other can of cherry pie filling, and serve!
