  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 small onion
  • 0.67 cups uncooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 24 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 0.33 cups light brown sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage, blanch the leaves in boiling water until soft, then drain and set aside. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion until cooked through.
  2. Mix cooked beef and onions with uncooked rice, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Spread a thin layer of crushed tomatoes in a baking dish and layer cabbage leaves over them, then add the meat mixture, and repeat layers as desired. Pour remaining crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce over the top.
  3. Mix tomato sauce, brown sugar, and vinegar; pour over the assembled casserole. Cover with foil and bake for 90 minutes. Remove foil, let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
