  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 4 large eggs eggs
  • 1.25 cups whole milk
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 loaf stale bread like a large French baguette, sliced (about 14 slices)
  • to taste powdered sugar
  • for garnish sliced strawberries optional
  • for garnish chopped nuts optional
  • for serving maple syrup optional

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish. Arrange the bread slices in the dish and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and beat until combined. Mix in milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and orange zest until thoroughly combined.
  3. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread slices, making sure they are well coated.
  4. Cover the dish and refrigerate overnight. If cooking the same day, let it sit for 20-30 minutes at room temperature.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and set.
  6. Remove from oven, sprinkle with powdered sugar, garnish with strawberries and nuts if desired, and serve with maple syrup.
